All About Your Bone Density Study - Dexa Scan

Your Physician has ordered a bone density study (DEXA Scan). This is a very simple, painless procedure to test your bone strength.

As you know, bone loss can lead to osteoporosis. With early detection of bone loss, treatment can be given before fractures occur.

The day of your DEXA Scan, please report to the receptionist in Suite 380 in the Doctor's Office Building.

Please wear comfortable clothing, preferably with NO METAL around the waist and hip areas.

The scan takes approximately 15-20 minutes of lying on an open padded table. The technologist will make you as comfortable as possible.

If you have any questions or concerns before your testing date, please do not hesitate to call. The DEXA technologist is in the office from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday to answer your call.
