Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is a skin-freshening technique that helps repair facial skin that takes a beating from the sun and the effects of aging. At Women's Clinic Ltd., our staff uses a device like a fine sandblaster to spray tiny crystals across the face, mixing gentle abrasion with suction to remove the dead, outer layer of skin. As with other skin rejuvenation techniques, more than one treatment may be needed to reduce or remove fine wrinkles and unwanted pigmentation.
Is Microdermabrasion Safe?
Microabrasion has virtually no risks and no side effects because it is one of the least invasive skin resurfacing
procedures. Contraindications, however, do exist. Patients on Accutane for 6 months previously, pregnant and nursing women, people
suffering from active herpes lesions, malignant tumors, keratosis, active rosacea or weeping acne are advided not have microbrasion.
How Effective Is Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is effective on diminishing and even getting rid of fine lines, enlarged pores, blackheads, age spots, hyperpigmentation
(uneven skin tone), scars, stretch marks, wrinkles and dull skin. A full microdermabration treatment makes the skin feel smoother, softer and fresher with a healthy, youthful glow. Actual
results, however, depend on prior medical conditions, your skin's ability to recover and on who performed the procedure. It is not effective on severe
skin imperfections because microdermabrasion cannot reach deeper layers of skin.
